Uni Staff Golf Champions 2022

The University 2022 golf competitions are over, and it was a year for the comeback kids, Ron Morrison, who led Computer Science at the University in the days of steam, when an apple mac was a raincoat in an orchard and a megabyte was what you feared from a large, dyslexic dog, with his stalwart partner Callan Duck, a friend to seals everywhere and never found without a herring in his pocket (which also gains him great admiration from the local felines) saw off all comers for Ron to get his name on a University trophy again, a feat he first achieved in 1980. The two gentlemen defeated Sam Rose and Tony Lang in the final. Ron’s 1980 victory was in the Boase Quaich singles competition, which this year was won by Sam Rose, who had to defeat not only Tony Lang in the final, but also the gales and swirling winds that the links throws at its long suffering users. Most people feel that they should receive a trophy for being able to stand up in these conditions, so many congratulations to Sam for holding his nerve and adding his name to the plinth.
