Uni Staff Golf Champions 2024
Another year of golfing prowess for University staff has drawn to a close, with two coveted trophies on the line. The Boase Quaich singles final brought Euan Crabb (Chemistry) and Andrew Henderson (Estates) to the Burnside course at Carnoustie on a calm, warm day. Andrew started strong, securing quick wins in succession, but Euan, leveraging his deep knowledge of the course, staged an impressive comeback. The course was in pristine condition, but as both players approached the turn, the iconic Carnoustie wind made its dramatic appearance, adding an extra layer of challenge. Ultimately, it was Euan who emerged victorious in this closely fought match. Delighted to improve on last year’s runner-up finish, Euan looks forward to a year of reflection on his journey to the title and the challenge of defending it in 2025. The 4Ball Competition final was a match to remember. Donald MacEwan (Chaplain) and Niall Scott (Vice-Principal Communications) pulled out all the stops against Jon Sidebottom and Kieran Harris (both from Business Transformation). From a stunning 30-foot tramliner to an audacious chip-in, they gave it their all—even enlisting the fierce winds of Storm Darragh. But nothing could blow Jon and Kieran off the Eden course, and with birdies on 16 and 18, they took the tie to a one-hole play-off. Jon and Kieran held firm to etch their names on the much sought silverware. (by Renald Schaub, Chemistry)
